Name: Valeriya Viktorevna Ikasheva Age: 30 Ability: Precognition Faction: LESYAS as an ASSASSIN Faceclaim: Natalie Dormer Availability: OPEN
THE STORY || CW: Abuse, Army, Death, Violence
Valeriya is told that she is the spitting image of her mother, with beautiful blue eyes and golden hair. From what she faintly remembers, she was a lovely woman — but her husband was a tyrant who often hurt her; for that reason, Valeriya feared her father. She feared the way he would sometimes look at her, and she sought the protection of her older brother Lucius, often opting to go with him to pickpocket the people of the city rather than stay home with a monster. She would distract crowds by singing songs, doing dances and just being all-around cute while her brother picked pockets. But one night, when she was only five years old, she had a dream of her brother performing a magic trick — of taking money from onlookers without lifting a finger. The next day, that very dream came true and she stared at him with wide-eyes as he instructed her not to tell their father. Only a few days later, she had another vision … abstract and terrifying, of Lucius murdering their father without touching the man and freeing their family from the tyranny —but she had been taught the old superstition that one shouldn’t tell a dream before breakfast lest it won’t come true … and she wanted that one to come true so badly. And then it did.
She didn’t tell a soul — not her brother, not her mother, not her infant brother — because Precognition was one of those legendary abilities and she feared danger would befall her family if word got out. Val continued to have nightmares — sometimes visions in the day; she’d just refer to them as “bad dreams” and leave it at that. The night before Lucius left for the army, Val had another vision — this time of her older brother was a grown man with a new name. She didn’t tell him she had seen his assassination of the original Rostek leader, and instead simply instructed him to “Give them Hell” — and that was the last she saw of him. Lucius had supposedly been killed in a gas leak along with the rest of his squadron; but Val knew better; she had dreams upon dreams of him … but each one became all the more frightening; her brother was turning into the monster their father had been. She was glad her mother thought he was dead so she wouldn’t see the nightmare Lucius had become.
Vision after vision came and she could see that Vilas and humans were the same, that they needed each other and the only thing that truly made them different was the fact that some had abilities and some didn’t. Once coming of age, she joined the Lesyas in full belief of their cause and their promise to protect her family. She became an assassin easily, all those premonitions having desensitized her to the horrors of violence and death. Her ability came in handy, knowing where and when a target would be, and she gained a reputation for being devastatingly cold.
THE CHARACTER
There is a reason why many in the Lesyas refer to Valeriya as the Ice Queen and it has nothing to do with her ability; perhaps ruthlessness is a family trait, but she frightens some of the other Lesyas with her cold-heartedness along with the fact that she doesn’t even so much as flinch at some of the most gruesome of scenes. She is blunt, saying what she thinks with a biting snark and absolutely zero fucks given. Despite her frozen exterior, she is terrified of the future and truly does care greatly about the world; killing distracts her from that fear as well as the nightmares; and though she keeps her distance from others, she does find solace in the fact that someone is nearby … particularly someone she cares deeply for. She is a superb fighter and stealthy assassin with frightening accuracy; she does what needs to be done to complete her missions, but remains somewhat reclusive and keeps her ability a secret from all but a very select few. As far as anyone knows, she is only a human who believes in the Lesyas cause.
CONNECTIONS
Lucius ‘Kir’ Viktorovich Ikashev - Though Lucius is supposed to be dead, Val knows better and had always known better. She knows he’s still alive; she knows he’s the leader of the Rosteks; but despite how terrible he may be, he is still family and she keeps his identity a secret. Of the many futures she’s seen, every one involving him has been bloody. She may have a reputation in the Lesyas of being fearless, but Lucius is the monster that haunts her. She plans to avoid him as much as possible and refuses to tell their mother and younger brother of what Lucius has become, let alone the atrocities which he could be behind in the future.
Luka Viktorovich Ikashev - Luka is the precious baby brother that she would do anything to protect. She and her mother raised him and he is the light of her life. She was frightened at first when discovering his ability of telekinesis and, worried that he may take the same route as their older brother, did everything in her power to convince him that he could do good with his gift. She regrets lying to him about Lucius, and she is terrified of the day Luka discovers the truth.
Robertus ‘Bob’ Yosifovich Smythe - There was a time when visions of the future blurred with reality and Val could no longer tell the difference with certainty. After a vision of Bob years ago that told her what he could do for others, Val purposely sought out this man’s help. He’s the only one besides Havaa who knows of her true ability; he’s helpful, he’s fun, and most of all, he is trustworthy; Bob keeps their training sessions confidential. He’s the only one she’s ever told about her visions regarding Lucius and that she knows he’s still alive as Kir. In spite of this, she feels safe with Bob and thinks of him as the older brother she’d always wanted. Speed dial #1.
Havaa ‘Rainha’ Darekovna Akhmadova - Valeriya’s list of friends is extremely low, so one would consider their relationship to be a professional one, very direct; Rainha is the boss; when she tells Valeriya to jump, Val does not bother asking ‘how high’, because she already knows. Rainha is the only one among the Lesyas who knows Val’s true ability and she prefers to keep it that way. They have a mutual respect for each other and there is nothing Val wouldn’t do for her.
Davyd ‘Dave’ Sergeyevich Roban - For as long as she could remember, Val would have visions of a boy at varying stages in his life, and all of them were terrible — tragedy seemed to follow him everywhere he went. She didn’t know why she saw him, but she felt as though she’d grown up with him; she wanted to meet him, to be his friend, to tell him that she understood. One day, she finally got her chance during a lucky meeting in a bar. She would never admit it aloud, but she enjoys his company and is protective of him. Due to her visions, Val knows about the experiments, that he is a Rostek, but she doesn’t care and she doesn’t tell him that she knows.

ETC
For shits and giggles, Val will occasionally team up with Bob for the sole purpose of masquerading as a fortune teller and giving purposefully hideously incorrect psychic readings. Bob can hardly contain his laughter when she warns, “The stars are telling me that your your fly’s down.”
She is a total maverick and kicks ass at the card table, especially when it comes to Texas Hold ‘Em. Her poker face is perfection.
In true hardcore fashion, Val is a drifter and crashes wherever. She stashes what little she owns in various storage lockers all over the city. When she travels, she travels light.
It’s an old Russian tradition that one should not lick knives because it is a way of opening oneself up to malicious intent; she has been known to lick knives as a form of intimidation … and because she’s an evil bitch.
She secretly cherishes a small teddy bear keychain given to her by Luka when he was 12. She carries it with her everywhere — hidden in her pocket, of course, because she has a reputation to uphold.
